Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman men's basketball team will travel to Alumni Gym in Elon, N.C., to face the Elon Phoenix in a 2 p.m. contest Saturday. The game will be televised live by SportSouth with Paul Crane handling play-by-play and Daymeon Fishback providing color commentary.
Furman, 12-11 overall and 6-6 in the Southern Conference, will try to claim its third straight win and second consecutive road triumph following a 68-61 win at Chattanooga and thrilling 76-72 overtime victory over visiting Appalachian State on Saturday.
The Paladins currently hold the fifth spot in the Southern Conference standings. The top five teams in the final regular season standings will receive a bye in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament later this month.
Elon (5-17, 3-9 SoCon) rallied from a late seven-point deficit to force overtime and upend the Paladins 81-77 last January. Moussa Diagne paced the Paladins with 19 points while Montell Watson led the Phoenix with 19.
Furman returns home Monday to host SoCon South Division rival Georgia Southern at Timmons Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
